- The Assembly of Independent Iraqi Jurists, including its entire membership that exceeds 12,000 lawyers and jurists for defending human rights, calls on the UN Secretary General and the Security Council to direct Mr. Ad Melkert, head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) to visit Camp Ashraf immediately in order to gain first hand knowledge of the situation there and to take the necessary steps for preventing another massacre.
We also call for an independent and transparent international investigation to refer the perpetrators of this crime to international courts.
